GED Test Takers Need Appropriate Photo ID
You will be asked to confirm your identity (you will need identification such as a passport or driver’s license) as you will be using in a GED testing center. Many states require you to be a resident of the state. You will be asked for your Social Security or Tax Identification Number, but it’s not required.
GED Test Language Versions
You choose a language for your tests, English or Spanish, but you aren’t allowed to combine language versions to complete the test.
Choose the GED subject test(s)
You can choose just one test, or more than one. In case you take more than one test, you will have a 10-minute break between the sub-tests.
So you can take one test when you feel comfortable to do so, but you need to complete all four tests within two years in most states.
Many students say that RLA (Literacy) is the easiest exam and 75% pass it the first time. After all that, you will be informed about locations of GED testing centers near you (according to the address you submitted when you signed up for your account on GED.com). You can find GED test locations and adult education centers here.
GED Test Dates
When you choose a desired GED testing site location, a calendar with available testing dates will be displayed. After you have chosen a date and time, you are redirected to the payment page.
I chose RLA (Reasoning through Language Arts) as my first exam, and it costs me $32. Not bad, right? After you log in, you will often see ongoing promotions. For example, when I created my account, I received a $10 discount on my first GED test subject, and I also got an email offering me 10% discount on everything else from the GED Marketplace.
GED Ready®
Here you can also sign up for the GED Ready® practice test. This is a test that can identify if you will be able to pass the real GED tests. The GED Ready test costs $6 per subject, and when you choose this option, you will be redirected to the marketplace where you can buy this practice test.
There are four testing areas: Reasoning through Language Arts (RLA), Mathematical Reasoning, Science, and Social Studies.
GED Marketplace
The GED Marketplace is the online shop where you pay for your actual tests, and here you also can buy GED Ready tests and other learning materials. The price of the GED exam depends on the state you live.
I live in Florida, so my price for 4 subjects is $128, but if you live in California, the price is $140. There are also states that subsidize the tests partially or fully. The passing score on each subtest is 145. See the scoring method here.
Discounts for retaking a GED test
Retakes for failed exams are discounted. In Florida, a retake costs $12 per subject and in California $15. What I like about the MyGED account on the website GED.com is that you have all your scores and scheduled tests in one place. You can also request a transcript of your exam there. For physical GED prep class locations, contact a community learning center’s office near you or follow a (free) online GED course and Facebook and Twitter may also be helpful.
Conclusion
Summarizing, GED.com is a modern and very useful way of organizing your GED studying and getting your GED credential. You will find a lot of information, tips, FAQs, information about transcripts, career, jobs, workforce, policies, accessibility, and requirements. It is really a very useful website. Many technical colleges have an adult education department that offers GED classes, often at no charge at all, and your public school board staff should also be able to provide relevant information. Contact them by phone and see if you can fill out the proper forms.
The GED Test is provided by GED Testing Service. Students who pass the GED test will be awarded a Certificate of High School Equivalency (GED Diploma.) Students with GED diplomas are eligible for a college education and form an important element of the workforce. GED test takers can view their testing report right after testing.
Government organizations and colleges recognize a GED diploma as an equivalent of a high school diploma with regards to program eligibility and as a prerequisite for admissions. You may very well benefit from our free services that include GED practice tests and video prep lessons. Many online GED programs offer courses where you can decide on how many hours you want to study to boost your skills development that you will apply on test day. And you can visit our free help and GED news posts if you click on the appropriate links. Our help and support system to help you with your MyGED resgistration is totally free.

Texas in using three options for HSE (high school equivalency) testing, the GED®, HiSET, and TASC.
HSE testing offers individuals who never completed high school the chance to acquire an equivalent credential.
Upon successful completion of one of the three HSE tests, students will receive the Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency (TxCHSE).
The GED test is only available in a computer-based format whereas the TASC and HiSET are offered both on paper and on a computer.
The GED includes four separate subtests (modules) in Math, Science, Literacy, and Social Studies while the TASC and HiSET have separate reading and writing tests (so five in total).
The GED modules may be taken separately but within a 2-year time frame. The TASC and HiSET modules may, if you wish, also be taken separately. Applicants must be Texas residents and have government-issued photo IDs.
In Texas, you need to be 18 years old. For younger applicants, there are special conditions. Contact your nearest GED testing center.
At 18, you may register for the Texas HSE test but 16 or 17-year-olds must be officially withdrawn from public school and have consent from a parent or guardian.
16 year-olds may also qualify if they submit a court order indicating they can get a GED.
To check what you know take a free GED Practice Test.
South Carolina Ged Testing Schedule
You must be a Texas resident, you never graduated from high school and are not engaged in any other school program.
GED passing score
On the latest edition of the GED exam, you needed to score at least 150 points on each individual of the four subjects, but this was lowered to 145 as studies had shown that the bar was raised too high. You can very well take practice tests to identify your level of knowledge to find out if you are ready to take the exam.
We offer free GED Texas practice tests and more practice tests are available at GED.com. Either way, get ready and become perfectly prepared.
GED scoring is as follows:
100-144: Below passing score
145-164: Passing score (high school equivalency)
165-174: College ready score
175-200: College ready Plus college credit score
HiSET and TASC come with their own scoring systems.
GED Cost
The total cost for the four tests in Texas is $145, so $36,25 per subject area. You don’t need to pay upfront for the whole exam. You can pay for only the section(s) you register for online. The GED exam offers you everything to become successful on the work floor and in college. The HiSET and TASC exams are slightly cheaper.
GED prep classes in Texas
You can prepare for the GED test by studying online.
You can also choose traditional GED Prep classes at a Texas education center near you.

Brighter future
In the U.S. we can find millions of adults who do not have a high school diploma. Passing the Texas HSE exam will open doors to colleges and universities, and improve chances for better income and new careers. This article lists all GED prep facilities in Texas. You’re also welcome to check our article about how to sign up for the GED exam with MyGED.
Three options
The GED includes four sections (modules) that can be taken separately within two years (language arts, science, math, and social studies. The TASC and HiSET exams have separate reading and writing sections, so five in total that may also be dealt with separately. All three options are available in both English and Spanish and must be taken at an official testing site. Online testing is NOT available.
GED – what is it
The GED test, with its rich history, is a four-subtest high school equivalency test that will result in better employment options and allows for a college education. The latest edition of the GED exam is completely computer-based. It doesn’t matter whether you dropped out of high school recently or that you did not finish many years ago if you want to get ahead, the GED (General Education Development) program will be the right thing to sign up for. The HiSET (High School Equivalency Test) and TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion) are offered in both paper-based and computerized formats.
If you use the online portal MyGED, you need to create your personal account so you can get unprecedented support while preparing and taking the GED exam to earn your diploma. Registration and test scheduling have become absolutely easy and are available 24/7 at the online GED office.
HSE test – how to begin
Contact a GED, HiSET, or TASC prep location or a test center near you and see if you qualify to sign up for the Texas HSE program. The HSE program is not for everybody: you can not have a high school diploma or be registered for any other school program. Learn about requirements and regulations and a student may also request financial aid if he or she qualifies.
Get well prepared. Your local bookstore or library can supply material and there are a few pretty good online courses, but the best way to prepare is probably attending a GED, TASC, or HiSET prep class at a Texas education agency, mostly totally free of charge (check above at a city near you). It also makes sense to take a practice test to discover your strong and weak areas. This way you’ll learn what areas to focus on most. You may well benefit from this website’s free help (video lessons and practice tests) on your phone, tablet, or computer without even having to leave an email address or any other personal data.
GED test strategy
Think about a good strategy that will help you to pass the examination. The GED test still has multiple choice questions left, although many were replaced by essay-style answering. Find the best strategy to come up with the right answers. Doing this will boost your confidence and your scores. On taking the test, think of the strategies you learned.
The GED exam must be taken entirely on a computer, so basic keyboarding skills are required as well. A great advantage is that scores will be available right after testing. At the GED exam, you are free to take one of the four tests (Math, Science, Social Studies, and Literacy) when you feel ready to do so. Test results are valid for a 2-year period from the time of your first registration. This not only applies to the GED, but also to the HiSET and TASC.
The GED diploma is the equivalency of a common high school diploma and is all across America accepted by businesses. colleges and government institutions. The GED test offers adults a chance to demonstrate their educational level when compared to graduating high school seniors. The GED diploma that you receive upon successful completion of the exam will improve job options and open doors to a college education.
Want to enroll in Nursing Programs in Texas?
The University of Texas is most famous for its football team, but as anyone who has attended the main campus in Austin, TX or any of the satellite campuses dotted elsewhere around the Lone Star State can tell you, the University of Texas is actually a great place to get an excellent education.
For instance, the University of Texas offers some of the most innovative and comprehensive nursing programs in Texas. There are so many different levels in nursing – from Certified Nursing Assistants to Nurse Practitioners but nursing programs in Texas as offered by UT covers them all.
About the University of Texas Nursing School and Nursing Programs
The School of Nursing at the University of Texas in Austin offers some of the best nursing programs in Texas as well as some of the most innovative. Their Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program is a 66 credit course that prepares nursing students to enter the field at the RN level. While the Associate to BSN program is designed for registered nurses with an Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing who want to advance even further in the profession.
The completion of a bachelor’s degree in Nursing is the gateway to graduate-level education and advanced practice nursing roles.
When it comes to nursing programs in Texas the Alternate Entry MSN program offered by the University of Texas is rather unique. It is geared towards those who hold a BA already, just not one in a field that is associated with nursing. This is a popular choice for those making a career change and the program prepares students not only for their Masters in Nursing but to become a registered nurse as well.
Other Nursing Programs in Texas
The University of Texas system is far from the only school offering nursing programs in Texas of course. Like in other states there are schools in almost every town and city in the state that offer the education needed to join the medical profession as a nurse.
Before you start researching nursing programs in Texas you may want to figure out whether nursing is the right career for you at all. Many people are attracted to nursing these days because it is a well-paying profession that is still enjoying growth in the midst of a recession. The problem is that many people see nursing as a very glamorous position. The fact is though that while nursing is rewarding both financially and personally, it is a far harder job- at any level- than some people may imagine.
Those who are recent graduates of nursing programs in Texas should be prepared for the fact that often nursing involves working long shifts – 12 hours is often the norm in many hospitals – and that some of the things nurses come into contact with every day can be upsetting and difficult to deal with. If you are considering entering into any of the nursing programs in Texas or anywhere else, take the time to speak with people who are already working in the field to help you decide if this really is the right choice for you. Another popular and promising career path is the security industry.
